I realized that it has been a very, very long time since I shared my current favorite products, aside from my 2016 Favorites that I posted at the end of December. Truthfully, I haven't tried out too many new things since then, especially because I've been so happy with the products that I've been using. They've been working very well for me. Nevertheless, I wanted to share the few new things I've been loving lately and a couple products that let me down.

NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlight, NYX Epic Ink Lip Dye

Some recent favorites...
  • Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter by NYX Cosmetics- I had only used one other liquid highlight before and wasn't too into it, but I am always down for trying out new NYX products. I try to use more liquid and cream-based products during the winter, anyway. I bought the color "Moon Glow" which is a white shade and I absolutely love it. It's buildable and adds such a pretty glow. I think next I'm going to try the lavender shade, "State of Flux."
  • Argan Oil Repairing Shampoo by Hask- I had used the deep conditioning packets quite a lot but until recently had never used the shampoo. It smells so good, it has a bright citrus scent which I always welcome. It lathers well, makes my hair feel great, and is free of sulfates and parabens.
  • Restore Brilliance Hydrogel Eye Treatment by Miss Spa- These claim to reduce under eye puffiness, but I don't have an issue with that so I can't really say if they do. But they feel so good to have on, they're very cooling and soothing. I use them after I've been outside in the cold and my skin isn't feeling its best and they really help. They also cling very well to the face and don't fall off easily, unlike sheet masks.
  • Smith's Minted Rose Tube by Rosebud Perfume Co.- I have been using the Rosebud Salve that comes in a tin for as long as I can remember but I've always hated dipping my finger in the tin to apply the product. This salve being available in a tube isn't anything new, but I just kept forgetting to purchase it, especially because the tin lasts so long. It's just easier than the tin and the peppermint in it smells so good!
  • TheBalm Hot Mama Eyeshadow & Blush- This isn't new to me, I've had this product for about a year, but I hadn't used it in a very long long until recently. I wasn't liking my usual blushes anymore so I dug this out of the depths of my makeup drawer. I had forgotten what a pretty shade it was and how easy it was to apply and blend. It gives a really healthy glow and little flush to the cheeks.

And some flops...
  • Epic Ink Lip Dye by NYX Cosmetics- I bought the shades "Charmer" and "Victorian" and was very excited. I hadn't used a lip stain in over a decade (I think it was from DuWop?), but I remembered that I liked them, so I added these to my cart super quickly. I tried applying these in a ton of different ways, and no matter what I did, they looked patchy and messy. I tried the applicator, using a lip brush, dabbing it on with a cotton pad...nothing worked. I also tried to use it as a cheek stain, since I had seen someone on YouTube do that, and that was a big mistake. I looked like a clown. This product is just not for me.
  • Wonder Stick by NYX Cosmetics- This is a cream contour and highlighter stick. I love two-in-one products, I thought it would make my routine a bit easier and quicker. The first thing that threw me off was the consistency of the highlighter stick, it was a greasy sort of creamy, thus making my skin look oily. I still had high hopes for the contour stick, applied it, blended it out, and it disappeared as if I hadn't even put it on. I re-applied more product than before, blended it out, and once again it was completely unnoticeable. I tried using this a few more times over the next week and had the same results. I was very disappointed by this product, especially because I bought two right off the bat because I thought I would love it.

Have you tried any of these products? What products have you been loving lately?

  1. I almost love hearing people's flops/dislikes almost as much as what people's favorites are! I've never tried those lip dyes before, but I could imagine the frustration of patchy makeup! I hate when that happens. Hopefully you get many more favorites within March xxx
