#BetterSkinPowder Voxbox Review

Alright, y'all! I've received yet another 100% free product for testing purposes courtesy of Influenster! This box contained Maybelline's Better Skin Powder foundation in the lightest of the 8 shades, porcelain. While the porcelain shade worked perfectly for me, after looking through their 8 shades I think they need to expand their shades a bit as there isn't much variation. Hopefully they will do that soon.

I usually wear a liquid concealer that I set with loose powder and a matte finishing spray, but to really test this product's limits I've been foregoing that step.

What I liked:

  • The packaging. It's slim and comes with a mirror an an applicator. Perfect for slipping into my tiny purse in case I needed a touch up throughout the day.
  • The coverage. It was light but covered my (lighter) acne scars well and my skin never looked oily.
  • Even without my finishing spray, it stayed on well and I never needed a touch up.
  • While I don't know if the salicylic acid in the product actually helped my skin, I like that it's there.

What I didn't like:

  • This product seems a little dry to me. I think the main focus of it is to combat oily skin, which I don't have.

Even though it seems a little dry to me, I'm going to continue using it till I run out. I'm unsure of if I would purchase it, just because I'm content with my liquid foundation-loose powder-finishing spray routine. But! I would recommend this product, especially if you have oily skin. You can buy this foundation for $10.99 from Maybelline or Ulta.

  1. This is good to know that it's to combat oily skin because that's always important and would explain why it was so dry. Use it all up while you have it since it is nice and compact as you said so easy to have in your purse if you need a quick touch up! (:

  2. I usually stay away from products for oily skin because I'm so dry as well. If you use a heavier moisturizer or oil underneath, it might help to counteract that!
