Gardens Aglow

gardens aglow, coastal maine botanical gardens

Back in August I bought our tickets to Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay because I had never been before, and I had heard this event was unmissable. During Gardens Aglow the botanical gardens are decorated with over 500,000 lights and it is so beautiful. We spent nearly 2 hours there, it was so relaxing and fun. My favorite part was how beautifully the bokeh turned out in my photos. In fact, I hardly shot any photos in focus and now I have more photos of bokeh than I'll probably ever need.

Besides the lights there is food, drinks, art exhibits, and the gift shop is open. It was pretty cold when we visited, but thankfully they have warming stations set up so were able to stay comfortable. From what I've heard, Gardens Aglow keeps getting better each year and it was pretty amazing this year, so I'll definitely be back!

Along with the hundreds of photos I took, I also took a fair amount of video. I recommend watching it in HD!

Gardens Aglow runs Thursday through Sunday till the end of December, with the exception of Christmas Eve. Click here to purchase your tickets.

  1. It looks so magical and gorgeous! I just shared this post with my mom and we both agree that we need to go.

    1. It was definitely worth the drive! And the town of Boothbay does their own festival of lights so there's more to see around town 😊

  2. Beautiful photos. It looks like so much fun - the botanical gardens in Edinburgh are doing a similar thing and we're hoping to go see it.

  3. So gorgeous!! I watched the video with my youngest and she loved it!
