5 Podcasts I've Been Loving

I got my first iPod in 2004 (it was a pink Mini, of course) and was understandably eager to explore the iTunes store immediately. All I knew at that point was AOL so the iTunes store was so magical and exciting. I went a little crazy when I discovered podcasts and subscribed to maybe 100, mostly stupid comedy shows and the local radio station's podcast. A year later, I was sick of paying for my music (I was a jobless tween, keep in mind) so I abandoned iTunes and started streaming music instead.

A few months ago I started listening to podcasts again (and learned podcasts aren't only through iTunes?! Crazy!), mostly to listen to while I'm cleaning the house. I get distracted by music, I always have to skip songs or sit down for 2 hours to create the perfect playlist for my mood, and TV always distracts me as well. But I need something to listen to, so I just put on my podcasts and get to work.

5 podcasts you should listen to

Here's the podcasts I've been loving lately:
  1. Lead Singer Syndrome- LSS is hosted by Shane Told, frontman of Silverstein, one of my old favorite bands. On this podcast he interviews other lead singers, mostly from bands that I loved back in high school, in a very laid back fashion. I listen to a lot of these bands less often now, but I still love hearing from the singers of the bands that were so important to me back then like Underoath, Norma Jean, Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday, and more.
  2. Besterday- If you love the 90's, this is for you. And who didn't love the 90's? They discuss the best things about the 90's-- movies, music, cartoons, and more. Each episode is filled with nostalgia and I guarantee it'll put you in a good mood.
  3. Young House Love Has a Podcast- My mom introduced me to John and Sherry's blog, Young House Love, years ago and I instantly loved it. They went on hiatus for a while, so I forgot about them for years, one day remembered they existed, went to their blog, and the hiatus had ended! And they had a podcast! John and Sherry talk about interior design, renovation, and occasionally, life as full-time bloggers.
  4. She ExploresThis podcast is for those who appreciate the outdoors. You'll hear profiles of female park rangers, activists who are working for the safety of our public lands, peoples' stories about their long hikes, how to foster a more inclusive outdoor community, and more. She Explores is entertaining and also covers such important topics.
  5. How I Built This- HIBT is brought to you by NPR so of course, you can expect soothing voices and great content. They interview founders of huge companies such as Lyft, Kate Spade, Instagram, Airbnb, and so many more and they talk about the process of starting their company. You'll hear many times that these wildly successful people often had no idea what they were doing and faced many challenges, which is why I love this podcast-- it's interesting and inspiring.

  2. This is such a cool post - I don't see many people talking about podcasts. Besterday sounds fantastic and right up my street. The 90's was definitely my favourite era.

I'm the same when it comes to music. I try to put it on when I'm washing the pots but I always end up having to dry my hands to skip a song or have to build the perfect playlist, which I then end up getting sick of anyway haha.

Will definitely give podcasts a try in future! x
